Coach Barron Hoping For Tough Pre-Season Test

OllieBarron2RTL Widnes Wild player coach Ollie Barron is looking forward to this weekend’s back to back home and away games against fellow Laidler Conference contenders Altrincham Aces to see how his new squad stands up in a match situation.

He said: “I have had a good few weeks to have a look at the squad – which was almost complete before I joined – and the Aces games will be a good test. We have a solid core and, with the additions I have made, I am happy with the squad so far.”

I am expecting 2 tough games against Altrincham as they have strengthened their team and made some key signings. We should have all players available for selection for the games – however, I am waiting on 2-3 players who have slight knocks. “

It’s pre-season so I will be looking at various line combinations in a game situation, to put us in good stead for the start of the season.”

The new look Widnes Wild team play away at Silver Blades Altrincham on Saturday 27th August in a 6.15pm face off and then face the Aces at home at Silver Blades Widnes on Sunday 28th August.  Doors open at 4.45pm and the game faces off at 5.30pm.

Admission for the home game is £6 for adults and £3 for children.
