We kick start the week by announcing that Armstrong and Marriott have successfully completed their transfers to the Widnes Wild.
Ken Armstrong – F
Ken joins the team with close friend Ruddick, as Mick appears to be building the foundations of the team on similar aged young players. He started his ice career at Lancashire Raptors where he spent 3 years playing regularly for the side. Last season was spent at NIHL2 club Blackburn Eagles, where the winger netted 7 times in 21 appearances to finish the season as the teams top scorer, in what may feel like a dissapointing first season for the Eagles.
Speaking on his new club, Kenny said:
The set up here is really really good. Mick is probably one of the best managers around and Gilly has done some good sessions over the past few weeks. I’m looking forward to it because it’s a fresh start for me, and hopefully we can shock a few people in the clubs first season. Calum is a top D-Man but he’s the type of person that you are either going to love or hate, and it should be fun to play on the same team as him for once!
Stewart Marriott – D
Stew, another 25 year old joins the Wild with only senior experience of being a regular name within the Fylde squad. Another name from the ex-Blackpool based team which Mick feels he can rely on, in his naturally defensive position at Widnes. Prior to his 2 senior seasons at Fylde he played between 2002-2007 at U19 level racking up performances for Blackburn Icehawks, Hallam Rink Rats, and Flintshire Avalanche. From 2007 until he signed on for Fylde at the start of 2011 he didn’t spend any time playing competitive Ice Hockey.
