It is with immense pleasure that we welcome Phil Crosby to the RTL Widnes Wild. The 27-year-old goalie from Warrington won the league last year with the Blackburn Eagles having joined them in the 2014/15 season.
Speaking about his latest signing, Player-coach Ollie Barron said;
“I am pleased to announce the arrival of Phil Crosby to the Widnes Wild. With Greg Ruxton taking a step back from playing this year, I needed another goalie on our roster and Phil is the right fit. Phil had a great 16/17 season with the Blackburn Eagles, and it should provide some good competition between Matt and Phil”.
“Matt and Phil will also have Tom McDonald to work with and compete against with Tom once again taking on goalie coach role while still being available to play”, Ollie added.
Phil who backstopped the Eagles to their three league wins against the Wild last season, had a 0.929 save percentage in the league and spent his junior years playing out of Deeside.
“I’m delighted to be joining the Wild for the coming season. Ever since the Wild formed I’d hoped to get the opportunity to play here, so when the chance came I jumped at it”, said Phil.
“Last season was a great year for me personally winning the league with Blackburn, unfortunately the eagles folded, but every cloud has a silver lining and I can’t wait to get started with my new team”.
“I’m looking forward to meeting all my new team mates, playing in front of the Widnes fans and helping the team finish as high as possible”.
Phil will wear the number #33 shirt for the RTL Widnes Wild whilst Tom McDonald will once again wear the #37. Both players jerseys are available to own and loan here.
The RTL Widnes Wild would like to place on record their disappointment that David Good, who they signed from the Hull Jets last January, is unable to join the Wild this season due to work commitments. The Wild wish David well with his future endeavours.
