It is with great sadness that the YKK Widnes Wild have to announce that Matt Croyle will no longer be returning to the club next season.
Last week Matt contacted Mike Clancy to let him know he had been offered a fantastic job in Oxford. Both Matt and Mike then looked to see if there was any way that Matt could continue to ice for the Wild but unfortunately the distance between Oxford and Widnes was too great for any viable solution to be found.
Speaking on behalf of the Wild, Chairman Matt Lloyd said;
“This is a devastating blow to the team however it would be wrong of the Wild to stand in the way of the fantastic job opportunity that Matt has been offered. Matt leaves with the best wishes of all at the club and the door will always be open to him to return. We will also miss Matt’s family who have been a constant part of the Wild family since he joined three seasons ago and I’m sure they will all be missed by the WildOnes”.
Matt goes with massive respect, love and thanks for the part he has played in the Wild winning four trophies in three years. As a club we are honoured he chose to play for the WildOnes, despite offers from other clubs every season, and we wish him all the best for his future endeavours both on and off the ice.
The WildOne’s are advised to keep an eye on social media over the next few days when we hope to be able to announce Matt’s successor in nets.
