The YKK Widnes Wild player Shaun Dippnall has been named Laidler Division Player of the Month for January 2020.
Each month a panel of media experts put together a short list of players who have performed particularly well and an overall winner is chosen from that list. There is an award for each of the five divisions in the NIHL and a separate set of awards for the women’s leagues, with prizes being sponsored by clothing company Oddballs.
Dippnall is the Wild’s leading points scorer for the season so far, with 23 goals and 26 assists, and he sits third in the overall scoring standings for the Laidler Division. During January, he scored 14 goals and 12 assists and was a solid performer throughout the month that saw the Wild win five of their eight League games.
Dippnall is the third Widnes player to win this prestigious league award. Former Wild player/coach Ollie Barron won the inaugural Player of the Month Award back in October 2017 and Widnes Wild Women’s Team Captain Emma Pearson won the Women’s League Award in November 2019.
