The YKK Widnes Wild are pleased to announce that Mikey Gilbert will be returning to the club for the forthcoming 2018/19 Laidler Division season.
Mikey played his junior hockey with the Manchester Phoenix development club in Altrincham and then played senior league hockey for the Manchester Minotaurs and Altrincham Aces before joining the Wild last season. He is also the Community Development officer for Planet Ice Widnes and in charge of the Wild academy junior teams.
In his debut season with the Wild, Gilbert scored 26+27 in 34 league and play off games, picking up 95 penalty minutes.
Talking about his return to the Wild for the new season, Mikey said:
“I am very excited about the coming season with the Wild and I’m glad Ollie asked me to come back. It’s a great set up here at the Wild and I love being a part of it. Last season was great – coming out play off champions again was a great achievement – and this season we will be looking to do one better. The fans at Widnes are fantastic and are always behind the team cheering us on and that is something that we appreciate a lot. I can’t wait to get back on the ice with everyone and to be playing again in front of our fans.”
Mikey will once again wear the number 16 shirt and his home, away and warm-up shirts are available to own ‘n’ loan here.
The YKK Widnes Wild still have season tickets available starting at £60 and further information is available on the YKK Widnes Wild Website or from Planet Ice Widnes.
