The Widnes Wild women’s team play Streatham Storm in the Women’s Premier League at Silver Blades Widnes this Sunday 15th January and supporters should note that the face-off time has been brought forward to 4pm from the original 5.30 start.
A short benched Wild played Streatham away last weekend in South London and ended up 5-1 losers, despite having scored first and having outshot their hosts for much of the game.
The Storm are currently second in the WPL table with 4 wins and 1 draw from their 6 games to date while the Wild women are in fifth place with 5 points from 7 games.
Looking ahead to the game, Wild women’s team coach Owen Tennant said:
“The result away at Streatham wasn’t the best start to the year and definitely doesn’t reflect the performance as the girls are very proud of their gameplay. We had a very promising training session on Thursday showing that the girls are more than capable to get the win at home on Sunday. Again short lies due to injuries, illness and international duties don’t help, but these things are unavoidable. With more players, I have no doubt we will pull off the win this weekend.”
