The YKK Widnes Wild are pleased to announce that popular defenceman Andrew Turner will be returning to the club for the forthcoming 2018/19 Laidler Division season.
The 30 year old 6’5″ defenceman comes from Sheffield and was one of the players who moved across the Pennines when Ollie Barron took over as player coach at Widnes for the 2016/17 season. Turner played his junior hockey in Sheffield and was a GB Under 18 international. He notched up 90 EPL games for the Sheffield Scimitars, Peterborough Phantoms and Solihull Barons and over 200 games in the ENL / NIHL North 1 for Sheffield Spartans in before joining the Wild two seasons go.
In his two seasons at Widnes to date, Turner has scored 7 goals and 23 assists in 58 games while picking up 185 penalty minutes.
Talking about his return to the Wild for another season, Andrew said:
“It’s great to be back for a 3rd season, this year’s aim is to bring the league and playoff trophy home to the best fans in the league. I am looking forward to the start of the season – Ollie has added some great new additions to the team.”
Andrew will once again wear the number 3 shirt and his home, away and warm-up shirts are available to own ‘n’ loan here.
It is with regret that the Wild have to announce that Matthew Barlow has chosen not to return to the Wild this season. Matty is a lovely guy who will be missed and who goes with the Wilds best wishes for the future.
The YKK Widnes Wild still have season tickets available starting at £60 and further information is available on the YKK Widnes Wild Website or from Planet Ice Widnes.
