Widnes Wild announce the official signings of Ben Simister and Richard Charles.

Simister has spent the last 2 seasons icing in Deeside for the Freeze, and the re-branded Dragons. Ben is also experienced in Inline Hockey and is a great worker who gives his all for any team he is a part of. Flying off to Canada on Tuesday, Ben was keen to become a Wild player before departing for the summer, but will be likely to miss to the start of the season.

Mick Caunce said;
“Ben has played for me, and against me for many years. Once we knew there was going to be a team here at Widnes, he became the Number 1 target for me.”

Currently living just 10-minutes from the rink it was an obvious choice for Ben on all fronts, close location, working under Mick again, brand new challenge, right down to the great training times provided by the rink.

Second signing of the night was Richard Charles, a player who has been ever-present at the Thursday night sessions. He brings a wealth of experience to the team and has played at the highest level in this country. After having quite some time out of the game competitively he jumped at the chance to pull on his skates when the news of the team reached him. Mick Caunce was delighted to sign another player who has shone over the last couple of months and whom clearly has a natural ability for the game.

“After attending our open pre-trials sessions it was obvious he still had all the skill we are looking for. We are delighted Richard has agreed to ice for us and will also help bring on the younger players.”

An upbeat Mick was confident more signings will be announced following the trials session on Thursday 20th June, all interested players are again invited for the 20:30pm session at Silver Blades Ice Rink, Widnes.
