The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are pleased to announce the signing of Ryan Kemp for the forthcoming 2019/20 Laidler Division season.
Ryan was an important member of the Bradford Bulldogs team that reached the Laidler Play Offs last season, scoring 19 goals and 18 assists in 30 regular season games, as well as one goal in the play off semi final.
Despite only being 20 years old, Ryan has a great deal of experience, having played 75 NIHL games for the Bulldogs over 3 seasons, and also having spent one season in the Moralee Division with the Deeside Dragons.
Kemp started off his junior career at Whitley Bay before moving to the Bradford youth system and has also played at numerous junior Conference tournaments and for the England U19s against Scotland.
Talking about his move to the Wild, Ryan said:
“I can’t wait for the new season in Widnes and am really excited about being part of the Widnes Wild team. I have always enjoyed playing in Widnes and I’m eager to hone my skills further under new Head Coach Mike Clancy, who I have known for a long time.”
“He is an excellent coach and I know I will be able to progress in Widnes through his leadership whilst working alongside a quality team.”
Wild Head Coach Mike Clancy said:
“Ryan is a player I know well, having coached him as a junior, and I’m excited to see him join the Wild. He will bring some excitement to our fire-power up front, where I expect nothing less than a career high points return for this coming season. It feels like Ryan has been around for a long time, but at 20 years old he’s only just getting started and that should excite the Wild fan base.”
Ryan will wear the number 8 shirt this season and his home, away and warm-up shirts are available to own ‘n’ loan. More information can be found by following this link.
