The RTL Widnes Wild would like to confirm the signings of Barry Sprakes and Geoff Wigglesworth to bolster the Wild for the remainder this season.
Sprakes is the first Widnes born player to sign for the Wild and has been signed as backup goalie cover to provide support to Croyle, Crosby and McDonald, primarily for away games. Barry will be wearing the number 27.
Returning after 18 months playing in Deeside for the D1 Dragons, Geoff has remained a fan favourite and has been welcomed back by the Wild fans. Speaking about his signing Geoff said;
“Coming back to the Wild was a massive move for me. When I heard Ollie was interested in having me back I couldn’t turn the challenge down to try and help them win this league. I know some of the lads and some are great friends. Deeside was great with me I had great one and half years there but felt it was time to take a back step from Wales. I give my all every game and I lead from the front which is what I am going to do here at Widnes. I’m going to bring what I have learnt from league 1 and use it in my game here. We have such a strong squad here at Widnes it’s good that everyone is fighting for a spot”.
“It wasn’t the best start at the weekend at Sutton but was amazing to see so many fans. Sunday was tough to take but we didn’t turn up and we got punished. We’ll train hard this Thursday ready for the weekends game against the Blaze”, continued Geoff.
Barry’s away shirt and Geoff’s home and away shirts are available to on ‘n’ loan and more information can be found here.
