The YKK-sponsored Widnes Wild open the new calendar year with a trip to North Wales to take on local rivals Deeside Dragons this Sunday 5th January – face off 5.45 p.m.

The Dragons currently hold local bragging rights, after narrowly winning the only other meeting between the two teams so far this season 2 – 4 at Widnes back in early December.

The Dragons have, however, lost their last three games, albeit against table toppers Bradford Bulldogs and Hull Jets. With the Wild still struggling with injuries, it is impossible to predict how this game will go but games between these two teams are usually memorable affairs for some reason or other.

Following Sunday’s game, the Wild have a trip to Sheffield to face Sheffield Senators on Saturday 11th January, before their next home game which will be against the Senators on Sunday 12th January at Planet Ice, Widnes.

For any fans not travelling to Deeside, the Widnes Wild Women’s Team are at home on Sunday, 5th January 2020, when they face the Nottingham Vipers Team in WNIHL Division 1 North. Face off is 5.30 p.m.

The Wild Women are currently on a high, having won their last two league games and they sit comfortably in third place in the league table.

The “Vipers 2” are a new team to the division this season, having been formed during the summer of 2019 as a consequence of the main Vipers team being promoted to the Women’s Elite League.

This Vipers second team is more of a development team, aimed at giving younger players and less experienced players more ice time than they would get if they were stuck on the fringes of the Elite League Team.

The Widnes Wild Academy Under 15 team are at home to Blackburn on Saturday 4th January at Planet Ice Widnes – 7.45 pm face off.

The Wild Under 15s are in second place in U15s League Division 3, with 4 wins from their 7 games to date.

Admission to all Academy games is free and fans are encouraged to come along and cheer on the Wild stars of the future.
