Weekend Preview

The YKK-sponsored Widnes Wild are in action this Sunday 9th February when they take on the Telford Tigers 2 team at Planet Ice Widnes.

Telford have provided very strong opposition in recent seasons but this time around the team is struggling in the Laidler Division and they sit second bottom of the league table with just seven wins from 21 games. Most of these victories have come against teams in the bottom half of the table, although they did pick up a surprise 5 – 4 victory over league leaders Bradford Bulldogs a couple of weeks ago.

The Wild have beaten the Tigers in both of their encounters this season so far – 9 – 1 at home in November and then 2 – 5 away in Shropshire in early December. A win on Sunday would edge the Wild nearer to the top half of the table for the first time this season as they are still playing catch up in terms of league games, having taken part in the Midland Cup earlier in the season.

The game faces off is at 5.30 p.m. and doors open at 4.45 p.m.

Wild Academy

There are no home games for the Wild Academy teams this week and the only game at all sees the Under 11s away at Bradford on Saturday 8th February – 4.10 p.m. face off.
