Weekend Preview

Following two weekends without a game, the YKK-sponsored Widnes Wild are back in Laidler Division action this weekend with back-to-back matches against Bradford Bulldogs. They travel to West Yorkshire on Saturday for the away game – 4.45 p.m. face off – and then are at home to the Bulldogs at Planet Ice Widnes on Sunday – 5.30 p.m. face off.

Bradford have a very strong team again this season and the two meetings so far with Widnes have produced a win for each side. The first away game in Bradford back in November resulted in a 5 – 1 defeat for the Wild, while the first home game at the start of December saw them beat the Bulldogs 5 – 2, so Bradford currently hold sway overall – albeit by a single goal margin.

Wild Head Coach Mike Clancy has challenged his players to treat each set of four league games against every opposition team as a mini competition in itself, with the aim of coming out on top overall against each opponent in the mini series. Depending on other results, two wins this weekend could see Widnes climb into the Play Off positions for the first time this season.

The home game on Sunday against Bradford Bulldogs faces off at 5.30 p.m. and doors open at 4.45 p.m.

Wild Academy

The Wild Academy Under 15s team are in action on Saturday 22nd February when they travel away to play against Deeside Under 15s team – 6.30pm face off.

The Under 9s have a cross-ice tournament away in Bradford on Sunday 23rd February.
