The YKK-sponsored Widnes Wild are without a game this coming weekend, so the spotlight firmly falls on the Wild Academy, whose Under 18 and Under 11 teams have home games this Saturday 26th October at Planet Ice Widnes.
The Wild Under 18s team are playing the Sheffield Steel City Under 18s team. Sheffield have a very impressive Youth Development System and always have competitive teams at every age level.
The Steel City Under 18s are currently second in the league table with four wins from their five games to date – the most recent being a 10 – 3 home win over the Nottingham team that beat the Wild Under 18s last Saturday.
The Wild Under 18s sit bottom of the league table with 1 point from their 6 games to date but captain Sam Anderson is top of the scoring standings with 13 goals and 4 assists from 5 games.
The Under 18s game on Saturday faces off at 7.45 p.m. and admission is free.
The Wild Academy Under 11s Team are also in action on Saturday, playing their first home game of the season at Planet Ice at home to Bradford Under 11s. Bradford have won just one of their three League games this season so far – a narrow 5 – 4 home win over Kingston Under 11s – and they have lost to both Whitley Bay and Manchester Storm, who are above them in the League Tables.
The only Widnes Under 11 game so far this season was an 8 – 0 defeat away to Whitley Bay, so there is every hope of a closely-fought and competitive game against Bradford on Saturday.
This season is the first time that Widnes have entered teams in the League at Under 18 and Under 11 level and both sets of youngsters would very much appreciate your support.
The Under 11 game faces off at 6.15 p.m. and admission to both Academy matches is free.
