The YKK-sponsored Widnes Wild will be looking to build on their recent positive performances when they take on the Moralee Division Blackburn Hawks 1 team in the NIHL Midland Cup this Sunday 24th November at Planet Ice Widnes – face off 5.30 p.m.

The Wild picked up their first ever competitive point against a higher division team two weeks ago when they earned a 5 – 5 regulation time draw away to Nottingham Lions in the Cup and then, last week, comprehensively beat perennial bogey side Telford Tigers 2 at home to kick-start their Laidler Division title challenge.

The Hawks have had a mixed start to the season and have only won three of their nine Moralee Division games to date. Widnes beat Blackburn in a pre-season friendly game but lost the return challenge match and also the first meeting in the Cup, so it is really difficult to predict what will happen in the game on Sunday.

The game will see an early return to Widnes for Solomon Smith, who recently joined the Hawks team having played a few games for the Wild.

The YKK-sponsored Widnes Wild take on the Blackburn Hawks 1 team at Planet Ice Widnes this Sunday 24th November. Face off is at 5.30 and doors open at 4.45 p.m.
