The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild travel to Sheffield this Saturday 13th March to take on the Sheffield Scimitars in their latest game in the North Cup 2021 competition – 4pm face off
The Wild currently lead the table with two wins from their first two games while the other three teams in the tournament – Blackburn Hawks, Nottingham Lions and Sheffield – all have two points each.
Widnes won away to Blackburn 3-9 in their opening game and then followed that up with a 6-3 victory over the Lions at Planet Ice Widnes last week, whereas the Scimitars have narrowly lost both their games to date, missing out 6-5 in overtime away to Nottingham and then on penalty shots at home to the Hawks last Saturday.
The game is being played behind closed doors under strict safety protocols as part of the EIHA’s “Return to Play” strategy. As such no spectators are allowed into the venue to watch these North Cup games but they are being live-streamed over the internet by each host rink’s streaming partner with full match commentary – and also covered on the Wild’s official Twitter feed, so there is no need for anybody to miss out on the action.
The other game this Saturday sees the Blackburn Hawks entertain the Nottingham Lions in a 1pm face off and that game can also be viewed live on the internet.
The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are away to Sheffield Scimitars this Saturday 13th March in a 4pm face off and are next at home on Saturday 20th March when they take on the same opposition at Planet Ice Widnes – 1pm face off.
