Wild Academy End Of Season Player Awards

The Wild Academy junior teams finally managed to round off the last season with the handing out of their end of season player awards.

These would normally have been given out at a party gathering with friends and family in attendance during the summer but, due to the coronavirus lockdown and subsequent restrictions on training groups once the Planet Ice rink re-opened, it was decided instead to make the presentations on an individual basis on training nights in a Covid-safer manner.

Wild Academy Head Coach Mikey Gilbert said:

“We saw last season as a success with it being the first time we have had teams in all the junior age groups 9s to 18s and we felt that we competed in all of the leagues. We saw great improvements in all of the players in the club but also improvements for the club itself as a whole. It was a real shame we didn’t quite get to finish the season due to Covid -19 and we could celebrate the season as a whole either with a presentation evening.”

“On a sad note, we lost a highly valued member of our club in coach Jon Little. He will be sorely missed by all and we are showing our huge support to his loved ones and will also keep him in our memories. When we are able to play a competitive season again it will be played in memory of Jon as well as future seasons after that.”
