The Wild Academy Under 13 team play their first ever competitive home game this Saturday 10th November when they take on the Blackburn Under 13 team at Planet Ice Widnes.
The Under 13s team have one win and one defeat from their two away games to date – picking up a 0-5 forfeit game when the Deeside team didn’t have enough players and then losing 16-3 away at Grimsby last weekend – and Saturday’s game will be an entertaining occasion, whatever the outcome.
This is the first season that the Wild Academy have entered teams into the league and it is quite a steep learning curve for players who have never played a competitive match before this September to come up against teams full of players who have already been playing together for some 6 or 7 years. As such, this debut season for all three Wild Academy age group teams is being looked upon as one of development and it will interesting to see how they progress as players and teams as the season goes on.
The Wild Academy is always keen to attract new players and have a very well-organised and structured “learn to play ice hockey” scheme in place to suit potential players of all ages – with or without prior hockey experience – boys and girls.
Interested parties are invited to come down to the rink on Saturday to cheer on the Under 13s against Blackburn and get an idea of what goes on. Academy staff will be on hand after the game to explain the various possibilities for beginners or, indeed, any experienced players, who might want to get involved with ice hockey at the rink at some level.
The game faces off at 6.50pm on Saturday and admission is free.
