The RTL sponsored Widnes Wild face possibly their toughest test of the season so far as they travel to face league leaders Altrincham Aces at Silver Blades Altrincham this Sunday 5th November – 5pm face off.
The Aces currently lead the Laidler Division table with 21 points from 12 games while the Wild are in second place with 18 points from 10 games.
Widnes hold sway in meetings between the two teams so far this season after their dramatic 2-1 overtime win against the Aces almost a month ago and Sunday’s game is likely to be another closely fought and passionately contested encounter.
Each team plays the other teams in the division 4 times over the course of the season – twice at home and twice away – and the head-to-head results are important because, if two teams finish the season on the same number of points, their final overall positions in the league table are decided by the results between them.
The RTL sponsored Widnes Wild play Altrincham Aces this Sunday 5th November away at Silver Blades Altrincham – face off 5pm.
For any hockey fans not travelling to Altrincham on Sunday, there is a competitive game at Silver Blades as the Widnes Wild women’s team take on the Swindon Top Cats in the Women’s Premier League.
The Top Cats spent last season in the Women’s Elite League but were relegated after a difficult campaign that saw them only manage two draws in a 20-game schedule and finish bottom of the table. They are, however, one of the favourites for this season’s WPL title and have won both of their games to date this season.
The Wild women lost their only game of the season so far at home to Nottingham Vipers in mid-October and will be keen to put in a good performance on Sunday.
The Wild women’s game is at Silver Blades Widnes this Sunday 5th November and face off is 5.30pm.
