Since last playing at home on 5th February – when they beat Coventry 6-4 in a highly entertaining encounter – the Wild have clocked up over 620 miles on their travels, having played away games on consecutive weekends at Bradford, Nottingham, Coventry and Blackburn, during which time they have are just one point away from securing runners up spot in the Laidler Conference table havig already guaranteed a place in the end of season play offs.
This weekend’s opponents Hull Jets are in 6th place and the table and, with their remaining fixtures, look likely to finish in that position. Most of their 20 points for the season have come against teams at the bottom of the table but they have also picked up impressive wins away at Nottingham Lions and Altrincham Aces since the turn of the year and they do boast the league’s top two points scorers in the shape of Richard Hagger – who has 64 points from 25 games – and Kieran Beach who has 52 points from 24 games.
The Wild lost 5-4 away at league champions Blackburn Eagles last weekend, having previously gone 7 games unbeaten so they will be keen to get back to winning ways in front of their home fans, with three home games in a row ahead of them.

Looking ahead to the game on Sunday, Widnes Wild Player Coach Ollie Barron said: “It has been a while since we have played at home so I am looking forward to have 3 games to try and build some momentum going into the end of season playoffs. It starts with Hull this weekend – who are much improved since our early season encounters – so I am expecting a good game.”
