Wild Host Coventry Blaze This Sunday / Wild Women Away In Hull

The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are in home action this Sunday 11th November when they take on the Coventry NIHL Blaze in the Laidler Division at Planet Ice Widnes.

The two teams met in Coventry two weeks ago, resulting in a 0-8 win for the Wild but, despite the Blaze sitting second bottom of the league table with just 6 points from 9 games to date, there are never any easy games in ice hockey and a tough encounter is expected on Sunday.

As this Sunday is Remembrance Sunday and also the Centenary of the Armistice, the club are going to take the opportunity to mark the occasion with a special commemoration before the game which will be attended by the Royal British Legion and their ceremonial Standard Bearers.

That being the case, it would be appreciated if fans could arrive at the game a little earlier than usual on Sunday and be in their seats for 5.10 / 5.15 so that they can take full part in the occasion.

The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild take on the Coventry NIHL Blaze this Sunday 11th November at Planet Ice Widnes. Face off is at 5.30pm and doors open at 4.45.

Earlier in the day, the Widnes Wild women’s team will be travelling the length of the M62 to take on the Kingston Diamonds in the EIHA Women’s Premier League.

The Wild women have embarked on an ambitious restructuring of the team this season and have a whole host of new players – many of whom are completely new to competitive hockey. As such, they do not necessarily expect to be competing for top honours this year but are looking upon the current campaign as one of development and consolidation.

The team will be missing Katie Fairclough who is away playing with the Team GB Under 18 Women’s team at the 4-team tournament in Poland this weekend but plan to travel with a strong side as they chase their first points of the season against a Kingston team who have only won one of their four league games to date.
