Widnes Wild return home to Silver Blades Widnes this Sunday. After a weekend on the road, The Blackburn Eagles make the short journey South to face a Wild side that is looking to continue it’s excellent form. Last weekend saw the Wild claim another valuable two league points as they triumphed 8-5 in Bradford. Goals from Scott Mckenzie (3), Geoff Wigglesworth (2), Shaun Dippnall (2) & Lee Kemp were enough to claim victory in Yorkshire.
Blackburn Eagles are currently sat just behind the Wild in 4th place in the Laidler Conference and will be looking to close the gap between the two sides this Sunday. The Wild however will have different idea. After facing the Lancashire based Eagles twice already this season, the Wild have managed to claim all the points in both games. With that said, the games haven’t been easy. The Wild will have to work extremely hard and remain focussed to make sure there are no slip ups.
Coach Mckenzie explains;
”The first two games against the Eagles were very physically demanding on our players, we don’t expect anything different this Sunday. We have added two new guys in Gilbert & Ratcliffe and they will both be in the line-up against the Eagles. The guys have worked hard this week at practice after a disappointing performance last Saturday, so I am expecting a response from them on the weekend.”
With just the one game this weekend it is crucial that the Wild maintain their winning form. The Widnes Wild fans will have to look all the way back to October to remember the last time the Wild lost at home, they will be hoping that their team can maintain their unbeaten run this coming Sunday.
