Academy Weekend Round Up

Saturday 20th November: Wild Academy U14s 1 – Leeds U14s 13

The Wild Academy Under 14 team took on the Leeds U14 team at Planet Ice Widnes on Saturday, slumping to a 1-13 defeat.

Leeds are the current league leaders and they arrived on Merseyside with a perfect 100% record from their 4 games to date, during which they hadn’t conceded a single goal.

The visitors took the lead in the 5th minute and had added 5 more by the time Widnes found the back of the net with a strike from Sophia Green.

The score remained 1-6 at the first period break but 6 more unanswered goals for Leeds in the second period put the game well beyond the reach of the Widnes youngsters.

Leeds took the foot off the pedal somewhat in the third period and the game finished up 1-13 but, despite the defeat, the Wild U14s can, at least, take the credit for scoring the first competitive goal against Leeds this season.

The Academy Under 12s game that had been scheduled away at Billingham for Sunday was postponed and will be arranged for a later date.

This Saturday sees the Wild U12s at home to Leeds Junior Knights U12s at Planet Ice Widnes – 3.20pm face off, followed by the Wild U14s at home to Sutton U14s – 4.50pm face off.

All Academy home games at Planet Ice Widnes are free admission and supporters are encouraged to go along and support the stars of the future.

The Wild Academy Under 10 team will be taking part in a 4 team Cross Ice Tournament in Bradford on Saturday, taking on teams from Telford and Manchester Storm as well as the hosts. The action in Bradford starts at 4.00pm.

The Wild Academy Under 16 team are away to Grimsby on Sunday – 3pm face off
