Coach’s Comments: “A Massive Thank You” from Richard Haggar

Looking back over the play off weekend at Sheffield, where the Wild came out as NIHL Division 1 national champions, Widnes player coach Richard Haggar said:

“It was great feeling at the beginning of the weekend to be able to get on the ice again with fans in the stands. There was a real buzz around the changing rooms with everyone ready to go.”

“The semi final didn’t start as planned as we went 1-0 down quickly. However, after that set back we quickly got the nerves out the way and settled in to our game plan. The game couldn’t have gone any better as a team from there on with us running out 5-3 winners and in to the final.”

“We went in to the final with a game plan against Sheffield. We had lost 3 times in the series to them but knew what we needed to do. The team really came together and put in our best performance of the series at the time when in mattered most running out 7-4 winners.”

“I would like to say a massive thank you to all the fans, volunteers and players throughout this series who have come together and make this possible over these series. Everyone is looking forward to having fans back permanently when the season starts properly again.”
