…… via Sheffield. It is with great delight that the RTL Widnes Wild would like to announce the signing of Matt Croyle. At 20 years old, the young goalie from High Wycombe has a wealth of experience including playing in the US and representing GB in Inline Hockey.
Player Coach Ollie Barron had this to say about his latest signing;
“I’m delighted to add Matt to the Wild ranks, Matt is a great young goalie originally starting his playing career for Slough Juniors, Matt then moved to Sheffield Hallam University 2 years ago icing for the Spartans / Senators and Sheffield u20s, gaining valuable ice time and improving his game.”
“I believe its important to have strong competition for positions, and bringing in Matt we will have 3 senior goalies in Matt, Greg and Tom battling for starting spot.” Added Ollie.
After signing Matt added;
“ I can’t wait to get started, I am looking forward to playing for the Wild, I have played a few games in Widnes and I was impressed with the facilities and great fan base. I know a few of the players already from previous season and I predict us to be challenging at the top end of the table but expect the league to be as competitive as ever. ”
Ollie then went on to outline his plans in terms of goalies further as well as announcing the team captains for next season,
“I believe this season will be as competitive as ever and having depth within the goalies is vital to my plans.Ethan and Jonah had already signed for the Wild before my appointment, however as young goalies I couldn’t guarantee them the Ice time they require to continue improving in preparation for senior hockey. Ethan and Jonah are great goalies with big potential and I wish them all the best for the future.” Continued Ollie, clarifying that neither Ethan or Jonah Armstrong would be playing for the Wild this season. ”
“I can also confirm the captain and assistants for the upcoming season. Shaun Dippnall will continue as Captain along side Assistants Tom Ratcliffe and Stuart Brittle.”
