No Redrawn Boundaries Needed to Secure Hawk

Sam Dunford (4)The Widnes Wild are delighted that they did not need administrative changes to secure forward Sam Dunford from the Blackburn Hawks.

Sam has spent his entire playing career to date playing out of Blackburn rink and has averaged a point every two games whilst playing senior hockey, however this points return does not tell the whole story as in the course of 197 games for the Hawks he has only spend 40 minutes in the penalty box.

Wild General Manager, Mick Caunce said; “Sam is a strong skater with a lot of passion for the sport, he was a target of mine at Fylde and I am glad to see him join the Wild for the coming season”.

Matt Lloyd, Wild Chairman commented, “The fact that we can attract players of the calibre of Sam to the Wild is an indication of how players, fans and teams perceive us. We’ve signed a number of players from the Moralee conference and the players we’ve bought back are of a standard that could compete in the Moralee. As a club we believe we will be fighting for the promotion places and have set a top three finish as the target for the season”.

Fans will get their first chance to see the 2014/15 Wild team in action on Sunday 10th August at Silver Blades, Widnes when we welcome the Sheffield Spartans to town for the two teams annual challenge game. Last season saw the Spartans take the honours 6-1 in the Wild’s first ever home game and this year the ‘Wild will be looking for the win against the Moralee conference team.
