The YKK Widnes Wild are pleased to announce that popular defenceman Lee Kemp will be returning to the club for the forthcoming 2021/22 NIHL season.
Kemp was a key member of the Wild squad that won the recent NIHL North Cup and has been involved in all of the Wild’s previous trophy success, securing three Laidler Play Off titles and one league championship.
The 33 year old defenceman learnt his hockey in the Nottingham junior system and played for the Lions and Peterborough Islanders in the then ENL before joining the Wild for the 2015/16 season.
In his 5 full seasons to date at Widnes – plus the Spring streaming series, Kemp has played 182 games overall, scoring 10+45 and notching up 371 penalty minutes.
Wild player coach Richard Haggar said of Lee:
“Kempy is another who has been around Widnes for a while now and heading in to his 6th season. He’s another leader around the team and is a gentle giant who turns up week in week out and makes everyone welcome. Lee will do everything and anything for the team, has a desire to play every game and show what he’s capable of. He’s a big guy who isn’t afraid to put his body on the line and he’s a great asset to have back for this season.”
Talking about his return to Widnes, Lee Kemp said:
“I’m delighted to be playing for the Wild for another season, this will be my 6th full season and I feel the team is growing each time. I am looking forward to being back with the lads and making another challenge for the title. I can’t wait to see the fans back in the stands and making Widnes one of the loudest rinks in the league.”
Lee will once again wear the number 15 shirt and his home, away and warm-up shirts are available to own and loan. More information can be found by following this link.
