The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild suffered back to back defeats in the opening weekend of the new NIHL North Three Rivers Cup competition, losing 2-6 at home to Nottingham Lions on Saturday and then 5-2 away to Sheffield Scimitars on Sunday.

Looking back at the two weekend games, Wild Player / Coach Richard Haggar said:

“It was a disappointing weekend for us not to come away with a win from either game. However, for a team who had only trained together once, it was a good start.”

“We have this weekend off, so we will work on a few things over the next couple of weeks to be ready for the next game. I think it’s going to be a well-contested cup, as each team is capable of being each other but our aim is to win and that’s what we will look to do in the remaining 6 games.”

The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are without a game this weekend and then have two away games – at Nottingham on Saturday 24th April and Sheffield again on Saturday 1st May – before hosting the Scimitars at home on Sunday 2nd May at Planet Ice Widnes – 1.30pm face off.
