Wild Academy Under 12 Team Season Review

The Wild Academy Under 12 team had an entertaining season in the 8-team Under 12 North Division, finishing a very creditable 5th over all.

Playing as the Under 11s under the previous system – and relying heavily on the use of under-age players to maintain numbers – the team had failed to win a single game in their debut 2019/20 season and they had to wait until December this season to notch up their first ever win with a victory away at Blackburn.

But then, the home defeat to Manchester in the first game of the season was overturned and awarded as a 5-0 forfeit after the Storm had iced a short bench, so the Wild U12s finished the calendar year with two wins under their belts.

Things improved in the second half of the season as the team continued to gel and they managed 4 more wins to top off their best ever season to date.

The leading points scorer for the season was Jacob Foster – formerly of Deeside Dragons – with 9 goals and 1 assist from 11 league and challenge matches.

Evan Walker matched his tally in the league of 8+1. Ruben Price weighed in with the most assists for the season – with 5.

Walker, Alfred Shearn and Miks Kirstens played in all 13 league games that were played (the away game at Whitley was awarded as an unplayed draw) and Kirstens and Chun Hei Kan shared netminding duties over the course of the season.
